I've seen just about every documentary on Netflix and Amazon Instant Video on green living, organic farming, and the crappy food we Americans eat, so I'm not sure why I haven't seen "Fresh" until today. "Fresh" is a documentary from 2009 and Todd and I watched it together today (it was on Amazon). WE LOVED IT.
This movie touches on so many points that have influenced our family to start making the changes we have been making on what we eat, what we don't eat, where we get the food we eat, what we throw away, etc. This film interviews many people, including Joel Salatin, who is pretty much my husband's hero and inspired the detachable chicken run/tractor he has been building over the past few weeks.
My favorite part came at the end and pretty much sums up the movie:
"Every decision we make at the supermarket, what we grow, what we eat, is creating a different future, for the land, for the farmers, for the adversity of our crops, for the health of our own bodies and our communities. That's what we're seeing with the organic movement and the local movement. All these extraordinary things that are happening. We're voting with our dollar. That's what's so empowering about the food issue...there is a new vision for our future that you don't have to wait for, but it's a decision you and I can make tomorrow, right now, that will change the world."
