From SSL Kids: How to Make a Flower Pot from Plastic Containers

This video tutorial from the kids will show you how easy it is to reuse plastic food containers and turn them into flower pots.  We start seeds all the time at our house for seedlings to plant in the aquaponics system.  The pots and trays we use are seedling trays, or clear plastic containers from store-bought fruit.  They are not very pretty.  Since the kids always want to keep a plant for themselves, we thought it would be nice if they had pots of their own that they could decorate.

We spray-painted a sour cream container with black chalkboard paint for our pot, but you can use any paint you'd like.  The chalkboard paint is fun for kids because they can decorate it easily.  We love this craft because it's inexpensive and a great way to teach the kids about recycling as well.  The kids also put their Ten Commandments rocks in their pots as well.

This tutorial from the kids of Simple Suburban Living will show you how to make a super easy craft of the Ten Commandments stone tablets.  All you need is your Bible, two rocks with flat surfaces and a marker.  This is a fun craft to do on family Bible study nights.  As part of our Bible study, we printed out activity sheets and coloring pages on Moses and the Ten Commandments.  The Bible story is found in Exodus Chapter 20.

From the SSL Kids & Mom: Easy Sucker Photo Valentine!

This Valentine is so easy to make! First, take a picture of your child in a pose with their arm out to the side with their hand making a fist, like this:

Next, print out the photo. You have a few options, you can print them out yourself on photopaper. Or what's even easier, upload it to your local Walmart or drugstore's photo department and have them printed in the quantity you need. We used Walmart because they are so inexpensive and we even made a photo card out of them. So easy, and they even have reasonable 1-hour photo rates as well.

Once you have the photos printed, you will need to cut two slits in each card, one slit at the top of the outstretched hand, and one slit at the bottom of the hand. Insert the sucker and you're done! You can affix a piece of tape to the back of the photo to keep the sucker in place, but I've never done that and the sucker has stayed in just fine.
